How to install and configure xmltv-import on Enigma2 Pli-images :

When you have installed OpenPli on your box, you can go to Applications, press the green button. Then you'll see a menu, go to extensions and look for xmltv-importer.
Press enter or OK button to start the installation. Now you have the latest version installed, restart Enigma and go to applications and you will notice the label "EPGImport".
Now go into this program, there are some options but first we press blue button to go to the sources. Here you can select with the OK button which EPG data you like to download.
Press green button to save this selection. Now we are back into the first menu where we can change the time when the plugin should start. Do not set this time before 04:00am because I create the EPG data just before 04:00am.
If your box is in deep-standby you could wake it up to start the automatic download, and you can set the amount of days for full descriptions.
Could be helpful if you have selected a lot of epg sources and your box has not much memory you could set this days on 5, so the epg data is loaded for 5 full days + 2 days.
Do not forget to save this config by pressing green button, then you will be prompted to the applications menu.
If you can't wait untill the automatic import, which I can imagine ;), you can go into the EPGImport panel and press the yellow button for a manual download, you will be asked if you agree by pressing OK.
Now you will see in the main window the amount of events it is processing.
You can press exit to go back to the application panel, it's not needed to wait untill the import is finished.

How to install xmltv-import on Enigma2 NON-Pli-images (OE1.5 VERSION):

After the installation of another Enigma2 image (Gemini, Ozoon, Newnigma, LT) you have to install a few more files in this image. Download the file above and unzip it on your computer.
Also download the latest file enigma2-plugin-extensions-xmltvimport_x.x-rxx_mipsel.ipk to your computer.
Use for example DCC to connect to your dreambox. Then copy the following files to the folder /tmp on your dreambox :

For Gemini users untill version 4.7; go to blue panel in Gemini and select filemanager, browse to the folder /tmp and select first the python-zlib file and press the green button to install this package.
Next we select the python-compression for installation then python-html, then python-shell, then we select the xmltv-import plugin and install it too.
After the installation download the latest rytec.sources.xml file from here, unzip and copy it to the folder /etc/epgimport on your box.
Now restart Enigma2 and you should be able to activate the EPGimport through the applications panel.
For other users who do not have a filemanager in their image, they can make a Telnet session to the box and install the ipk's by using the command "ipkg install /tmp/python-zlib_2.5.1-ml4_mipsel.ipk"

For Gemini users with version 5 or higher (OE1.6 VERSION) :
Copy the xmltv-importer plugin to the directory /tmp
Open a Telnet session to your dreambox, use therefor DCC or Putty or a DOSbox.
In this Telnet session type the following commands :
# cd /tmp [enter]
# ipkg install python-compression* [enter]
# ipkg install enigm* --nodeps [enter]
# mkdir /etc/epgimport [enter]

Now copy the rytec.sources.xml with FTP to the directory /etc/epgimport
You have to configure Gemini 5.0 so it is able to read the EPG files (use the remote control):
Press Blue button, then settings, epg

15 min (does not really matters)

After these settings have been made press the green button and restart Enigma.
Now see if you can add providerlists for the import.

Known Issue’s :

There are incompatibility problems if you use Gemini 4.5 or higher, keep this in mind !! Reason : Gemini is implementing epg.dat functions.

It can also happen that automatic EPG Import will not function properly after installation, although manual EPG Import works fine, the workaround is to open a telnet session to the dreambox.
Then after login with root, type behind # init 4 this will stop enigma2.
Now change in xmltv.dat the time to import 5 minutes later and change the value random to 0 (you can do this with DCC for example).
In the telnet window type #
Wait untill import starts and after this is completed and change back the importtime to 4:45 and the random value to 1.
After this you choose restart enigma via menu.
Now wait untill prompt is coming back in telnet session and type behind # init 3
This will start enigma again. (now you have to wait another day to see if the automatic import works)

Explanation of different kind of EPG patches in images:

- No patch used: The box (Enigma2) needs to be restarted to load the EPG data. While starting GUI can freeze/crash.

- CrossEPG patch: Same as no patch used, EPG data is written in epg.dat. At the end the "load" command is given to read epg.dat

- Oudeis patch: EPG data is immediately loaded and accessible, even while the xmltv-plugin is running. Normaly there are no issues while loading.

- Pli patch: Same as Oudeis patch but the xmltv-plugin runs in a seperate "thread" so no issues at all in the GUI or other components.
